Who is Tobelocal?
Tobelocal is an initiative of Peter van de Langenberg (Plagster) and Wouter van Twillert (Twylzert).
After a number of city trips we had the feeling that we could have had better trips if we had known where to go and what to do. Travel guides lead all tourists to the same places so instead of seeing Spanish people in Spain, you see other tourists.
We came up with the idea that we needed to get in touch with the local people of a place to tell us where to go and what to do. This way you know where to go and you can move off the beaten track. Experience a place just as a local is doing. The question was: where are these locals hanging out and how do we contact them?
The answer was quite simple. Everybody can be seen as a local for his local place. So what we decided to do is try and create a community of locals in as many places as possible. Tobelocal helps everybody in this community to contact each other, share information and possibly even experiences.
